THE WAGES OF SIN - The Consequences of Our Sin
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Every choice has consequences, and the Bible makes it clear that sin is no exception.
Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death. A wage is something earned or deserved. Because of sin, we face spiritual separation from God.
This is serious because God is holy, and sin separates us from the relationship He created us to enjoy with Him.
But notice that this verse doesn't end with death. It continues with some of the most wonderful words in Scripture:
"But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
We cannot earn eternal life. It is a gift from God, made possible through Jesus Christ.
And that brings us to the beautiful truth of the next step: God loves us so much that He made a way for us even while we were still sinners.
